try life in another language

try-life

As strong advocates of learning a second, third, fourth or fifth language we couldn’t help noticing this Channel 4 advert for their new initiative encouraging British youth to learn another language to make the most of what Europe has to offer. Plus the soundtrack from Parisian/Senegalese rapper Disiz la Peste, and some nice animation make it even more eyecatching.

Apparently Disiz’s music is about the social problems faced by French youth, and breaks down barriers between countries, races, rich and poor – but even with top grades in GCSE French we haven’t got a flipping clue what he’s talking about. Still, if what the critics say is true, his profile not only suits Try Life in Another Language to a T but deserves a post here too. Plus the 1,089,497 people who have watched his video [below] can’t be wrong…

I adore this track – I think that is really a great way to motivate The UK to speak more languages and not just rely on the rest of the world speak ours!
