laugh now, cry later / notorious r.i.p

March 9th, 2009

So today is of course the 12th anniversary of the early end to the glorious notorious’ life. This freestyle video with Lil Cease was recorded under a week before he was gunned down in Cali. RIP BIG, needless to say that music isn’t the same without you. And for anybody who want’s to know how he could’ve sounded today click through to 9 minutes 29 of Snicka’s remix featured in Mr Cee’s 2007 10 Year anniversary celebration [below]…

part4

In fact, listen to the rest of this unequalled tribute to BIG too. 4 hours of the finest, most exclusive Biggie tracks, littered with touching tributes from all the greats. None more so than that from his mother, Voletta Wallace, to be heard in the first part… Rest In Peace

boucheron-chameleon-brooch

This range of bejewelled animals comes from Boucheron’s Extravagant Bestiary range. Founded by Frederic Boucheron in 1858, The House of Boucheron has over the years set the global standard in fine jewellery, watches, and now perfume. They also invented an internationally renowned and employed method of classifying diamonds – B.I.R.D [Boucheron International Rating of Diamonds] – which asseses any stone’s value against two key criteria: cut and clarity. Now owned by the PPR Group [as are Gucci and YSL], and with 34 stores globally - from Paris to Osaka - it doesn’t look like the Boucheron dynasty will be fading anytime soon…

Prices in this range fluctuate between £1,550 and £29,700, and the featured chameleon brooch comes in at a cool £14,400.

staple-design-jigga

There’s no need to write reams and reams about this one, as it’s more of a follow up – plus anyone who’s logged on in the last week or so will instantly know this piece comes from Jeff Staple’s Spring 09 collection. The subject this time is another king of his game – with a face almost as recognisable as Biggie’s, and a flow just as infectious. Although Jigga’s coronation as one of the all time greats has only truly been recognised in relatively recent years, there is no reasonable doubt that his name, face, and music will never be forgotten…

wretch ghetts badness ina di ghetto

March 3rd, 2009

This wont be to everyone’s taste, but then that’s not what capicú strives for. Something for everyone – not everything for anyone. With a concept as entirely subjective as this, the chance of any individual appreciating absolutely everything featured here is slim to none. We do however hope to deliver content that is of interest to some people, most of the time. And maybe most people some of the time. But if unlike us you don’t like this track from Wretch 32 ft. Badness and Ghetto then don’t listen to all 233 seconds – but do listen up to 2 minutes 19. Thanks for the mention Ghetts, we owe you for this one…

beurre-2

After 5 days in Switzerland – with plenty of snow and not enough wifi – capicú is back, and in business. Yes we did say that almost 2 weeks ago, and then subsequently disappeared again 5 days later, but now we really are back. To stay. Aside from a collection of the world’s finest music, design, fashion, art and now architecture – that  has been building up and waiting to be uploaded as soon as I got the opportunity and tools to put pen to paper [or the electronic equivalent] – this butter pack caught our attention. Ok it’s only a butter foil and is hardly going to rock the design world, but a far cry from any own label or branded equivalents in the Uk, interestingly this design is refreshingly free of conventional dairy cues [cows, milk churns, dairy maids]. The result is a simple, modern and attractive pack what sets itself apart from it’s competitors, and was enough to prompt us to fork out that little bit extra. Yes it might be a shame that the brand is completely lost, but in a multinational and multilingual European market, this pack does the job beautifully…
