USB : USP

February 17th, 2011

Sometimes simple innovation is best. Whatever the insight may have been behind this project – one thing is clear. The life of a USB is limited. Totally indispensable for a short time, but once it’s purpose is served, so often the USB drive is consigned to the back of a drawer, the bottom of a laptop bag, the inside pocket of a jacket, or left in the back of a internet café tower that is itself standing on it’s last legs. So why not create a USB that you can lose without feeling compelled to retrace your steps back to when you last used it? Eureka. Simple, effective, and strangely beautiful. And environmentally friendly, if you’re that way inclined. Designed by Alexei Lya Punov and Lena Ehrlich, at the moment these are only concepts, but hopefully they’ll become a reality soon.
